Biological manifestations of the five elements.

According to the concept of Tibetan medicine vital principles or nyepas present in the body from the moment of conception until the moment of destruction (death). Until their balance is disrupted they are responsible for the development and normal functioning of the body, as well as physiological aging and death. In this case they are called creative forces (‘du ba). Imbalance of nyepa leads to diseases. Therefore they are called diseases (nad) or harming forces (gnod byed). There are three vital principles: rLung (rlung), Tripa (mkhris pa), Badkan (bad kan).
